Press release from Stalham Town Council – Monday September 5th
Stalham Laundry Cleans Up Jubilee Cake Trail!
Over fifty ‘cake creations’ were on display in Stalham Town Hall on September 3rd as the curtain came down on the Council’s Jubilee Celebration Cake Trail. The wooden cakes had been assembled at the Men’s Shed by Ray Woolston and his team, and the decorated cakes with a royal theme have been on display in the town’s shopwindows throughout the summer.
Stalham businesses and uniformed groups excelled themselves
with some superb efforts and made judging the winners an
extremely difficult process. Eventually, the seven-member
independent panel declared Country Cleans Laundry’s
‘Rags to Riches’, ‘Best Overall Cake’. TLC Dog Grooming scooped
the award for the ‘Best Named Cake’ with ‘Cor-gi-me a slice!’ with
both winners receiving £25 prizes. A specially commissioned
wooden plaque was also presented to Andrew and Donna at the
laundry by Stalham Mayor, Kevin Bayes. Highly Commended
certificates were also awarded to a dozen other entries.
Members of the public had been invited to pick up a sheet and take
part in the trail, and two lucky winners received £25 Tesco vouchers.
Sally Kirwan from the Cake Trail Committee said, “We hope that
residents and visitors to Stalham have enjoyed our Art Trail this
summer. We are delighted that so many people have taken part and say a big thank you to all the businesses that have joined in to make this event such a success.”
As members of the public joined town councillors for tea and cake at the town hall exhibition, the only question was…what’s next summer’s ‘Art Trail’ theme!
